Weddings &

Vow Renewals

Imagine holding your wedding or vow renewals in a venue unlike any other. Rich in hand-crafted history and surrounded by acres of lush green moss-draped maples towering above a fern covered floor, this masterpiece of a magical setting is the perfect venue for couples to begin their lives together.

Whenever folks walk through the front doors of the 1937 Steiner Log Church, we hear three things…"Oh my gosh!  This is stunning!”, “I had no idea this was even here.”, and “This would be a perfect place for a wedding!”  We agree, and we’d be happy to host your special day in this unique piece of Oregon history tucked amongst a wonderful forest setting.

To discuss your wedding plans and to arrange a visit to inspect the 1937 Steiner Log Church, please feel free to contact Mike Gudge at MikeGudge@SteinerChurch.com

Note that the 1937 Steiner Log Church is a registered historic location, and it requires visitors to adhere to a set of rules and requirements to help protect and preserve this unique Oregon treasure.  While the rules limit certain activities, we are happy to help you create your perfect wedding day.

Current Facility & Amenities:

Being new, we are working to expand the amenities we offer, which are currently somewhat limited.  Please note that, as of now, we are able to provide the facility / church only, consisting of:

  • The historic 1937 Steiner Log Church in a forested setting

  • Bench seating for approx. 70 to 100 people

  • Benches and chairs with backs

  • Some benches do not have backs

  • One small interior restroom and a new “rustic outhouse” adjacent to the church

  • A changing and preparation room in the east end of the church

  • A large Steiner built log gazebo near the church is also available

  • Limited parking for approximately 15 to 20 vehicles, with additional parking nearby

  • Please note that the 1937 Steiner Log Church is a former church, and it no longer holds services. Its altar has been removed and replaced with a beautiful wood-burning fireplace. A portable log altar is available, however.

Additional Considerations:

  • Unfortunately, the 1937 Steiner Log Church is currently unable to host wedding receptions or dinners. (Very special exceptions may be considered)

  • There are a number of restaurants and other reception sites located nearby in Welches, Zigzag, Rhododendron, and Sandy. In addition, the magnificent Timberline Lodge is approximately 30 minutes away.

  • Preparation space is limited. Brides may prepare in a separate room behind the fireplace in the church, and there is a small bathroom which adjoins this space. It would be best to bring one or more mirrors which can stand on their own. This room has a separate entry / exit, which leads to the back of the church. Because preparation space is limited, brides and grooms may find it convenient to rent and bring one or more RV units for additional preparation space.

  • There are RV power outlets on the property, should you wish to bring an RV unit or restroom trailer.

  • Currently, portable restrooms are the responsibility of the bride and groom. Portable restrooms, including luxury restroom trailers, may be delivered and placed prior to your event.

  • Use of a fragile antique organ from the 1700s is limited to organists and others by prior approval only.

  • Inquire about the use of an award-winning 1936 Packard, a 1937 Towncar, and several other vintage cars for your photography or use.

  • To protect the unique wood floor of the church, no high heels, muddy shoes, or strollers are allowed inside.

  • Electric (battery) candles only. Clackamas County fire code does not allow for the use of candles or open flames within the church, nor anywhere outside on the property. This includes the use of sparklers or similar devices. Note that it is against the law to launch “Sky Lanterns” or other hot-air flamed balloons.

  • Fireworks of any kind are prohibited, as are barbeques or open fires on the property.

  • Smoking and vaping are not allowed within the 1937 Steiner Log Church or the surrounding property.

  • The throwing of rice, birdseed, or other material is not permitted.

  • Important: As a historic structure, the 1937 Steiner Log Church has limited ADA accessibility. Please note that the entrance to the church has 6 steps. The church is located in the forest, and the walkways are natural and rustic.

  • As a historic structure, please note that nothing may be affixed to the church nor removed.

  • As a historic structure, decorations are limited and must receive prior approval before being placed.

  • Additional considerations, including a Damage / Security deposit, Event Insurance, cancellations, etc. are addressed in a separate document. Please contact Mike Gudge at MikeGudge@SteinerChurch.com for more information.
